Loch side cabins over looking Loch Ken

Our loch side Cabins are an ideal compromise between camping and more expensive accommodation.  With heating and power they allow you to bring along all those little luxuries such as hair dryers and laptops (if you can’t leave work at home).  All you need to bring is a sleeping bag.

They provide ideal accommodation for walkers, fisherman and mountain bikers.

Not only do you have access to all the activities within our centre, but there is also a vast array of things to do in the surrounding area; with walks on the Southern upland way just of your doorstep, to checking out the red kite trail around Loch ken.  Everything is right on our doorstep.

We are also central to 5 of the 7Stanes, each within a 30 minute drive.  If you're looking for a hub from which to base a mountain bike trip then look no further.  We have drying facilities on site, secure storage, bike wash facilities and a bike stand for servicing your bike.

Facilities within the Cabins
The Cabins are fairly minimal inside; each cabin is heated and has electricity points.

They are equipped with beds, bedside table, drawers and hooks for storage.  With 2 plug sockets you can bring along those luxury items such as hair dryers, phone chargers and laptops.

We have 4x 2 berth cabins and 1x 4-6 berth cabin.  Each cabin has its own little balcony and decking area.  Being pitched right on the shores of Loch Ken, you can enjoy spectacular views from our cabins.  Watch the sun rise over the loch while having breakfast or admire the sunset over a beer or two.

The cabins are not equipped with shower, cooking or toilet facilities.  They are literally little wooden huts with a comfy bed and a cracking view.

There are large toilet and shower rooms open all night in the Clubhouse of the Activity Centre.  These are just a short dash (10-15 meters) for the cabins.

There is also a T.V room and seating area within the clubhouse where you can relax in the evening.

Breakfast and evening meals can be provided through our Cafe, it is best to book this in advance.

Ideal accommodation for the 7Stanes
The Loch side cabins provide mountain bikers with a low cost option form which to base their holiday.

We are situated right in the middle of 5 out of the 7Stanes venues.  With a large boat shed providing secure storage on site, drying room, washing facilities and bike stand we have all the facilities you require.

Dark Skies Accommodation in
the Galloway Forrest Park

The 75,000 hectare Galloway Forrest Park is the first area in the U.K. to be awarded Dark Sky status.  The extremely low levels of light pollution make ideal conditions for night gazers and star spotters.

The Loch side cabins at the Galloway Activity Centre are situated right on the edge of the Galloway Forrest Park.  The Raiders road is just opposite us on Loch Ken and is recognised as one of the top viewing sites.  You can literally gaze out your cabin window at the starry skies above.
