Galloway Activity Centre is the ideal location for School activity trips. With non-tidal fresh waters, a vast choice of outdoor activities all on site all set within the idyllic surroundings of Loch Ken and Galloway Forest Park.
With a wealth of experience (gained over the past 20 years) of providing school activity trips we aim to give you an experience to remember.
Curriculum for excellence
Outdoor learning has been shown to deliver outcomes that embed into the long term memory. Our eclectic programmes deliver fun activities that develop new skills, build confidence and provide collaborative learning experiences for participants. We are totally flexible and will adapt a programme to meet your needs.
Safety
Safety is taken very seriously here. We are governed by the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) BCU (British Canoe Union) SMBLA (Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Award) All of our Instructors are fully qualified in their disciplines. We are certified by the AALS (Adventure Activities Licensing Service) undergo regular annual inspections.
We are fully insured with cover of up to £2,000,000 per person, as recommended by AALS. We also work in partnership with Dumfries and Galloway Council. Details of insurance, staff qualifications, risk assessments and operating procedures and centre policy can be forwarded as part of our School pack.

Tell us what you want!
We offer a range of packages from 1/2 day fun activity days to 5 day residential activity trips and everything in between. Tell us what you want and we will create a bespoke package to suit your school, pupils, timings and your curricular requirements.
With a wide range of activities on offer we will work with you to create a program that suits your needs.
Choose from a programme of Sailing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Raft building, Climbing wall, Archery, Outdoor Laser Quest, Mountain Biking, Orienteering, Team Building and much more!
For schools who opt for 2-5 day residential packages we can qualify your pupils in NGB (National Governing Body) awards, gaining RYA sailing level 1, start windsurfing or BCU Paddel Sport 1*.

With see schools from as far wide as Robert Gordon's (Aberdeen), George Watsons (Edinburgh), Westminster College (London) and St Mary's Hall Stoneyhurst (Lancashire), our reputation is well deserved.
We are also popular with local schools such as Wallace Hall , Sanquhar Academy, and St Ninnian's all from Dumfries and Galloway.
Accommodation and Facilities
We can cater for up to 41. However, often schools have different male/female ratios which alter the maximum number that can be accommodated.
With large pitching ground on site we can also offer camping as an option.
Our canteen serves good, healthy home style cooking, with fresh homemade soups and sandwiches on the lunch menu and home classics such as Lasagne, Chicken Pie etc on the evening meal menu.
