At the Galloway Activity Centre we offer a range of Fast track Instructor courses.  These courses are aimed at taking those with little or no experience up to instructor standard.

This is essentially career training for people wishing to work within the outdoor industry.

Below are details of all of the fast track instructor courses we offer.  You can undertake as many or as little of these modules as you like, bolting together a package to suit your needs.  This will allow you to do anything from 1 instructor discipline in 4 weeks to all 3 instructor disciplines (sailing, windsurfing and paddlesport) in 12 weeks.

Fast track RYA Dinghy Instructor
This 4 week intensive course is aimed at taking you from the basics of sailing up to Instructor standard.

The first 2 weeks will be laying the foundations, focussing on the RYA level 1 and 2 sailing modules.  We then progress on to really fine tune your sailing by covering the Seamanship advanced module.  This will get you to the stage where you are ready for your pre-assessment which focuses on boat handling and control.  You will be assessed on your tight circles, lay too, rudderless sailing, coming along side and how you deal with problems afloat.

In the final week the course enters the Dinghy Instructor course.  This is a 5 day course which aims to supply you with all the skills and knowledge to run fun, safe instruction.

This course can be taken individually or as part of a series of fast track modules.  See the others below.

Fast track BCU Level 1 Paddlesport Coach
This module will take you from the beginner BCU Paddlesport 1 and 2 star awards.  Focussing on boat handling and control you will gain a range of experience in different type of boats.

The course then progresses onto to cover support strokes and white water techniques.  This will include pool training where we focus on key clinics such as rolling.  It is often best to practise difficult techniques such as this in a controlled and clear water environment.

The course culminates in a 4 day BCU level 1 paddelsport coach award.  This award will allow you to teach under the supervision of a level 2 Coach and up to BCU paddlesport 1* or paddle power passport award.

Fast Track RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor
This 4 week intensive course is aimed at taking you from the basics of windsurfing up to planing, carving and beyond to instructor standard.

The first 2 weeks will be laying the foundations, focussing on the RYA Start and Intermediate windsurfing modules.  We then progress onto really fine tune your sailing using the RYA Fast forward scheme that covers vision, trim, balance, power and stance.

The course will not only develop your personal windsurfing skills but also your in-depth knowledge of board design and sail dynamics.  The final stages prior to sitting the instructor course is to work through the RYA W4a, covering simulator work and learning the method.

In the final week the course enters the Windsurfing Instructor course.  This is a 5 day course which will supply you with all the skills and knowledge to run fun safe instruction up to the RYA Start windsurfing level.

This 4 week fast track course can be taken individually or as part of a series of fast track modules.
