We run our taster sessions in June, July and August.  In essence these sessions are based on the same lines as our Family Activity Days, the main difference being that they are open to individuals.
 
Individuals
Taster sessions provide options for individuals to come and take part in activities (without the whole family in tow) and receive the same experience for the same price!

Families
For families who can't make their minds up! (sound like your family?), why not split up and do exactly what each individual wants.  It's that simple!

How does it work
Well, we won't bore you with the detail. Simply book in and give us you activity choices and we will unscramble the rest.

Options
We offer a range of packages form 1 session (Approx 1.5hrs) to a full day being 5 sessions.  Our days are split into 4 equal sessions that run back to back starting at 10:00 and running through to 17:00 with a break for lunch between 13:00 - 14:00.  In Summer we also offer a 5th evening session from 18:30 - 20:00

Archery Taster
Archery can be a fun hobby to have, and is also a well known competitive sport.  At the Galloway Activity Centre we focus on fun, beginner safe and skilled Archery.

Led by qualified instructors, we aim to show you the basics of this ancient sport.  We have a range of beginner adults and junior bows.

Do you have "Robin Hood" skills, you won't know until you have a go!

Outdoor Laser Quest Taster
There are various types of games you can play.  From "last man standing" "capture the flag" to "defend the base" there are lots of options, some being more tactical than others.  It must be said, the game is as tactical as you want it to be!

With a rack of 26 guns we can organize large battles, combining you with other customers to make as big a battle as possible.

Within 1 session we will fit in as many games as possible, on average this would be about 5, but this really depends on how good you are at either hiding or shooting!

Paddlesport Taster
Kayaking and Canoeing has always been one of our most popular activities.

Using modern "Sit on top" style kayaks we run various rafting and splashing games.  Our instructors will show you the basics of boat control but the focus is on fun fun fun.

You will probably spend more time in the water than on the kayak!

Climbing Tower Taster
Our 25ft climbing tower offers a wide range of activities, from a choice of 3 basic climbs, 80m long zip wire, 25ft leap of faith, not to mention a wide range of team building exercises.

Within the sessions’ structure the most popular option would be to "climb and zip".  Within 1 session you will climb the various routes and zoom down the zip wire.

Another option is to Climb and then do the leap of faith.  If you wanted to squeeze all 3 wall activities into your taster session, we would advise that you do a double session (3hours).

Sailing Taster
Sailing is often seen as an inaccessible sport, either due to cost or level of understanding required to sail the dinghy.
We prove this theory wrong!

We tend to use the stable and forgiving Laser Funboat which provides the perfect platform to concentrate on just having fun!

This spacious little boat can take 2 children with ease encouraging confidence in younger sailors, or 1 adult and 1 child.

Within 1 session we will have you blasting about the loch in no time!

Mountain biking taster
We offer a range of mountain biking activities.  For our taster session we run a core skills route on site.  This involves a short obstacle course requiring bike control, balance and even stunts!

For longer sessions we then take you out around the Galloway forest park on a short 10km loop, taking in some amazing views of Loch Ken and the surrounding hills.

Windsurfing taster
Modern wider and more stable boards with lighter sails mean windsurfing has become far more accessible than ever before!  It's not quite the balancing act the sport once was.

We all remember the long narrow "Wobble board" that now seem to sit dust covered and dormant in garages nationwide.  Well why not give it another try!

For young surfers we even have a range of specialist kids equipment allowing them to get out there and get going!

There is a Cafe on site serving homemade soups, hot and cold rolls as well as some yummy home baking.  You are also welcome to bring a packed lunch and set up a picnic in our picnic area.
